New Information*

Pray For Those In The Hospital

Baptist East
Cliff Mason, father of Brent Mason (Crosswalk), Rm. 2207, recently underwent a heart cath procedure. Blockages were found and a decision is yet to be made on how best to treat them.  

Bright Glade Convalescent Center
Lemmie Smith, father of Linda Adams (Bereans), Rm. 114.  

Kirby Pines Manor
*Claude Bates (Joint Heirs), Rm. 180-B.  
Luther Welch (Bereans), Rm. 180-A, recovering from a recent stroke.  Doctors are optimistic that his affected foot can be rehabilitated.
Dottie West (Joint Heirs), C-Wing Rm. 168, recovering from a recent fall.    

Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center
Tierney Bourage, 17-year-old, Rm. 5605, is out of a coma and improving everyday after being struck by lightning. She is the niece of a co-worker of Valerie Richmond (Ladies H.O.P.E).

Methodist University
Laura Sneed (Charis), Rm. 638-Tower, recovering from surgery due to an intestinal blockage.  The surgery was successful but the recovery is expected to take some time.  Laura also has cancer.  She and her husband are very concerned and appreciate all prayers on Laura's behalf.  Mr. Sneed asks for prayers specifically for Laura's recovery.    

Rainbow Health & Rehab
Faye Turnbow, cousin of Leon Sanderson (Joint Heirs), Rm. 305, recovering from a broken hip & leg.

St. Francis- Park 
*Jack Campbell (Joint Heirs), Rm. 1015, fell and broke his hip yesterday.  He underwent surgery and is recovering.    
Jamie Holder, mother of Sheila Pettie (Homebuilders), Rm. 541, has pneumonia and is in a lot of pain right now. No visitors at this time.

St. Jude 
Ranley Blake Harris, Blake is 20 years old and lives in Dexter, MO.  Requests prayers during his treatments and stay here.  

V.A. Medical Center
Marcus Jennings (Auditorium), Rm. 1C114, no longer on a ventilator and is making progress.

Anita Armstrong (Joint Heirs), bronchitis is improving.  Receiving chemo treatments every other week.
Brenda Berry
(Seekers), will have surgery on September 8 at Methodist Germantown.
Lloyd Berry (Seekers), prayers needed for his health.  
Roger Cherry (Homebuilders), now home following hip surgery.  
John Chester (Youth), son of Eddy & Jeanne Chester (Homebuilders), continues to improve.  Please continue to keep John & his family in prayer. 
Robert Criss (Joint Heirs), received good news on his test results.  
Mark & Megan Davey (Homebuilders), continue prayers for Mark's health and for his numbers to go down.  
Josh Hoaglan (Young Professionals), now home from hospital and recuperating.  
James Hodge (Youth), son of Wally & Suzanne Hodge (Deaf), healing.
Don Leachman (Seekers), now home and recuperating following recent kidney surgery.
Earl Manning (Crosswalk), still having some insomnia four months after Ruth's passing.
Warner Moore (Auditorium), still receiving rehab at home for 2-3 weeks.
*Jackson Nelms (College), son of Bubba & Lynn Nelms (Homebuilders), was hurt in the football game Friday night and received a knee injury.  He will have outpatient surgery on Friday, September 3.  He fractured his tibia where the ACL is attached and damaged cartilage but the ligament itself appears to be okay.    
Hamilton Poag (Bereans), prayers requested for his health. 
Selena Stephenson (Cornerstone), prayer for health concerns.
Leon and Angela White (Homebuilders), prayer for strength and for Bianca going away to college.

Pray For Our Family and Friends

Josiah Hackett, great grandson of Nancy Shanklin (Joint Heirs), continuing treatment at St. Jude.

Lois Howard, sister of Marilyn Sanderson (Joint Heirs), had heart cath procedure on 8-23. They found no blockage.

Liz Inman, sister-in-law of Bob & Ruth Turner (Joint Heirs), will be having two serious eye surgeries on 8/31 & 9/7. She lives in California.

Nancy Kenley, daughter of Lanell Kenley (Joint Heirs) and sister to Gary Kenley (Singles) and Becky Kenley (Charis), her cancer has returned.  She will begin chemo treatments on Tuesday, August 31.

Charlie Schaeffer, friend of Duncan & Sherah Campbell (Cornerstone), diagnosed with lymphoma. Will be treated in Houston next week. He is 31 with a wife and daughter.

Lemmie & Hannnah Smith, parents of Linda Adams (Bereans), need prayers for adjusting to new living situations.  Lemmie is now at Bright Glade Convalescent Center. Hannah has moved in with Robert & Linda due to vision problems preventing her from living by herself.  They have been married for 70 years and are really having a tough time being apart from each other.  

David Taylor, father of Jarrod Taylor (Young Professionals), has heart failure and is on the heart transplant list at St. Thomas in Nashville. He could receive a heart at any time.

Ellen Taylor, 6-year-old daughter of friends of Jerry Anderson (Bereans), continuing cancer treatments at St. Jude.

Cicely Vaughn, daughter of Susan Vaughn (former WS member) has bone cancer. Cards of encouragement may be sent to: 5146 Hudgins Rd., Memphis, TN 38116.

James Williams, brother of Babara Taylor (Joint Heirs), Additional surgery was done recently to remove a blockage and he is making some progress. Prayer for healing.

White Station Cookbook-- We Need Recipes!

The new deadline for submitting recipes for our White Station Family Cookbook is Sunday, September 19.  We encourage all of our members, both young and old, to participate in this project.  You can find recipe forms in the information racks around the buildings.  Please place them in the boxes provided in the lobbies, CLC, and Coffee House.  For more information, you may contact Jacqueline Hignite, Betty Copeland, or Emily Fowler.

Volunteers Needed for CLC

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Tomyris Jene' on the birth of her first granddaughter, Adrielle Jene' on August 28.  Adrielle and her parents (Tomyris's son and daughter-in-law) live in Goodlettsville, TN.  Mom and baby are doing well.    

Congratulations to esctatic grandparents Rodney & Margaret Plunket on the birth of their grandson, Logan Fisher Plunket.  Logan weighed 7 lbs., 11oz. and is 19" long.   Proud parents are Chad & Lindsey Plunket of Lubbock, TX.  Mom and baby are doing well.

Special Announcement from the Elders

Ken Wells has requested a three-month leave of absence from the eldership for personal reasons.  There are some things that Ken wants to accomplish in the next few months and he feels that it would be better to take some time off to do those things.  The elders have granted his request and it will be effective September 1.

The Food Pantry Needs Your Help

Our food pantry provides boxes of food to people in our community who need help feeding their families and themselves.  We depend entirely upon your donations to serve our community through this ministry.  A list of non-perishable items needed can be found in the racks in each building, but often we have a special need for certain items.  You can check here or in the Server, our weekly bulletin, to find out what is currently needed most.  


This week we need:

Canned Peaches

Rice (1 lb. packs)

Dry Beans (1 lb. bags)

Dry Milk (individual packs of 1 qt. or 6-8 qt. boxes)

SOMA Golf Classic

The 3rd annual "Soma Classic" will be held October 3rd at the Links at Galloway benefitting SOMA and the U of M Christian Student Center.  Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM with a shotgun start at 1:00 PM.
