Jim Cartwright, father of Trina Peery, CT results show slight growth in existing tumors, but no new tumors. He'll continue current medication & rescan in three months. Thank you for continued prayers.
Alicia Clark, young mother & cousin of Margie Bell & Rob Bell (Lifesavers), continues to undergo chemo treatments and handling it fairly well but the side effects are getting harder to manage.  Pray for healing.
June Powell Emerson, former WS member & daughter of Eloda & Bruce Powell (Christian Studies), prayers requested for health and strength.

*Dave Huddle, brother of Elaine Townsdin (Bereans),surgery was successful & condition improving.  Continued prayers for health.
Baby Mollie Pounders, great-great niece of Earl Manning (Joint Heirs), now home from hospital.  The family is thankful for your prayers.  Pray that she gets to enjoy some good weeks at home with her new baby sister.

Donna Rike, friend of LuAnn Massey (FaithWalk), undergoing diagnostic treatment for MS through Vanderbilt.  Prayers are requested.
Ruble Yopp, father of Rebekah Carter (FaithWalk), diagnosed with bladder cancer.  Scheduled for surgery on August 31 in Jackson, TN.  Many other health issues .  Prayers are requested.
Grover Vaughn, father of Coretta Vaughn (Seekers), has bone cancer.  Continued prayers for health are requested.
Willie Williams, mother of Jackie Williams (FaithWalk), now home under the care of West Clinic.  Prayers requested for medication to be tolerable and effective fighting cancer.


*We express our sympathy to Vicki & Don Kinder (FaithWalk) on the death of Vicki's father, Richard Hood on August 21.  Services will be on Saturday, August 26, in Ventura, CA.

Jack P. Lewis Christian Studies Seminar - August 26

*The Jack P. Lewis Christian Studies seminar is Saturday, August 26 from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm in the Fireplace Room.   A light lunch will be served.  The cost is $5.  It's important that you RSVP the church office at 901-761-2007 by August 23rd.

Power & Piety: Spanish Colonial Art Exhibit at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens

*This exhibit runs thru September 24 and is "filled with works of fine and decorative art created for the many churches that populated Latin America, religious works of art created for the home, and objects intended for private devotional use". This is the first exhibit where all the descriptions are also in Spanish.   Free admission to this exhibit is being offered to anyone bringing a church bulletin any day of the week (closed on Mondays). 
The Senior Adult Ministry is organizing a group to see this exhibit on Saturday, September 9 at 10 am, with docent, Phil McMillion as a guide for the group.  Everyone is invited to join this group.  Admission is always free on Saturdays at 10 am. 

HST Course Audit

*Members of our congregation are eligible to participate in the Church Audit program at Harding School of Theology.  The Fall 2017 selection is Wisdom Literature presented by Dr. Lance Hawley.  This course is devoted to study of the biblical books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job.  It will take place on Mondays from 6-8:45 pm and runs from August 21 thru November 27.  For more information or to register, visit or call the HST Admissions Office at 901-432-7750.

Senior Alert - Save the Date

*The Senior Adult Ministry will be hosting a Fellowship Meal following the morning worship on Sunday, September 17 in the Children's Worship Room.  Cost will be $5 at the door.  Call the church office at 901-761-2007 to reserve your spot!
